Skincare for springing into summer

Here we are in March and no matter where you live, the weather is changing.  It may still be a little chilly in the mornings and evenings, but the warmth of Spring will be here very soon.  Just as we change our wardrobe to match the weather, your skincare should also reflect the temperature and humidity for the area you live in.

As the heat and humidity rise, a couple of things happen to your skin.  One, your skin tends to hold onto more water during warmer months so you don’t need to apply the uber-rich creams during these months.  Second, you sweat more.  As much as we don’t like, sweating is a natural detoxing process but it leaves excess oil on your skin.  

What Products Are Best

Even though you might feel oily due to the warmer temperatures, your skin still needs moisture.  Reach for a vegan silk-based, lightweight hydration, like our Revitalizing Hydrogel Moisturizer, that is a gel texture and absorbs quickly.  It can be used day and night and works well under makeup.

Exfoliation is key during this time.  It sloughs off any remaining winter dry skin, but helps cell turnover (meaning brighter skin) and keeps the pores clear as well.  A great one to try is Origins Modern Friction.

SPF, SPF, SPF.  We cannot say enough how important wearing sunscreen is for your skin no matter the temperature.  Every day in every season, we get exposed to UVA and UVB rays and those rays accelerator aging.  We recommend an SPF of at least a 30 rating like AO Skincare 6000x Elemental Screen SPF 30. 

So as the seasons change, so should your skincare.  Using silk skincare products that are lightweight and water-based is ideal for this time of the year.
