Moisturizers come in all sorts of textures and levels of hydration, so let’s take a closer look at these by skin type.
By now, you are an expert in what the skin barrier is, how it can become compromised and most importantly, how you can repair it to delay the effects of aging. Our silk serum, best-selling Firm + Replenish Serum was specifically formulated to replenish the Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF) and add back in the essential lipids to the skin – all in an effort to restore your skin barrier. To get maximum benefits from the serum, a moisturizer should be layered on top to lock in those benefits plus add hydration. Moisturizers come in all sorts of textures and levels of hydration, so let’s take a closer look at these by skin type.
Oily Skin
We are willing to bet that those of you with oily skin don’t like it. We are ‘glass-half-full’ kind of people – all that excess oil is actually keeping your skin looking younger longer (humid climates help with that too!). With this skin type, you want to look for a moisturizer that is lightweight and has a lower level of hydration. These are most often gel or gel-cream textures that are cooling on the skin but should absorb quickly so you aren’t left with more oil than you started with. We love our Revitalizing Hydrogel Moisturizer for your skin because it offers that lightweight hydration that your skin needs (yes, oily skin still needs a drink of water!) and you can use it both day and night after the Firm + Replenish Serum. We think our Hydrogel is the best moisturizer for oily skin.
Combination and Normal Skin Types
Your skin falls in the middle of the spectrum which means you need a little from both the oily and dry skin playbooks. In the morning, your skin needs lightweight moisture. Something like our Revitalizing Hydrogel Moisturizer that is not too heavy so makeup follows seamlessly but enough to hydrate and keep the skin soft. The normal skins can apply liberally all over the face and neck while our combos can go lighter in their oily areas and then be more heavy handed in the drier areas. At night, your skin can handle a deep nourishing moisturizer like the Hydrate + Restore Rich Cream. This silk face cream is one of the best moisturizers for dry spots. Apply all over each evening and if your drier areas need a little more attention, go DIY and add a drop of liquid Vitamin E to your cream and press it into the skin.
Dry Skin
Those of you with dry skin know good and well that your skin needs extra love. Your skin is not only thirsty for a drink of water, it may need it several times throughout the day. When looking for a nourishing moisturizer, look for ingredients like squalane, hyaluronic acid and natural oils that deeply hydrate the skin. Our Hydrate + Restore Rich Cream was formulated with these to specifically add that moisture into your skin and is best when used day and night. We highly recommend this silk moisturizer, it is the best face cream for dry skin. If you need to add more hydration throughout the day, warm a small amount of the cream between your palms and then gently press onto your face and neck. Your skin will instantly be comforted but you will also be glowing (bonus!).
